SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY EXPO FESTIVAL 2018


            TESS Technology Academy was hosting its 16th celebration
            and  awareness  of  Science,  Technology,  Engineering,
            Mathematics & Innovation (STEMI) festival in Mpumalanga
            Province from 13th to 17th August 2018. Department of
            Science and Technology, SANEDI’s key Stakeholder was the
            initiator of the festival.

            The National Research Foundation/South African Agency
            of  Science  and  Technology  Advancement  (NRF/SAASTA)
            coordinated and managed the project.

            The objectives included amongst others the following:
             (i)    Encourage learners to enrol in STEMI subjects at
                    high school;
                                                              SANEDI  representative,  Ms  Confidence  Phaahla  sharing
             (ii)   Promote science by showcasing local innovations   information with the learners about Renewable Energy.
                    in the STEMI fields; and

             (iii)   Introduce STEMI careers appealingly to learners.
            The festival was held at Amsterdam Environmental Centre.
            Approximately  ten  thousand  Grades  8  to  10  learners
            benefitted from this collaborative initiative.
            South  African  National  Energy  Development  Institute
            (SANEDI)  in  collaboration  with  NRF/SAASTA  participated
            by motivating and also demonstrated different models of
            renewable energy to the learners and teachers alike.

            The following Organisations & Academia took part in the
            TESS Technology Academy festival:
                •   South  African  National  Energy  Development   SANEDI representative Mr Themba Mokoena, sharing information
                    Institute (SANEDI)                        with the learners attending the festival about Working for Energy.
                •   South African Agency of Science and Technology
                    Advancement (SAASTA)
                •   Statistics South Africa (Stats SA)
                •   South African Police Service (SAPS)
                •   Tshwane University of Technology (TUT)

                •   University of Limpopo (UL)
