Girl learner career development day
The Department of Science and Technology (DST) is
the initiator of the South African Agency of Science and
Technology Advancement (SAASTA). SAASTA is a business
unit which is responsible for the development of public
awareness and engagement for science, technology,
engineering, mathematics and innovation (STEMI) in the
SANEDI representatives, (left hand) Mr Bongani Xakaza & (right
hand), Ms Confidence Phaahla helping learners to understand the country. South African National Energy Development
Science Spaza. Institute (SANEDI) has entered into a memorandum of
agreement with SAASTA, stating a collaboration of the two
organisations in any public awareness and engagement of
STEMI events. In such events SANEDI anticipates to achieve
its mandate, promote the acceptance of green energy and
energy efficiency by the public at large in the country.

Girl learner career development day held at Bankuna, Tzaneen on
24 August 2018.
In celebration of the women’s month, SAASTA, its
collaborative partners and the manager of Nkowankowa
circuit Mrs Manzini, hosted a girl learner career
development day event. The event was held at Bankuna
high school hall and eighteen (18) high schools from The
Greater Tzaneen Municipality were invited, namely, ten
(10) schools from Nkowankowa circuit and eight (8) schools
from Ngwanedzi circuit benefitted from this initiative.
In total about 1 200 female learners attended the event.
The aim of the event was to encourage and motivate
female learners from Grades 8-9 to engage/enrol in
the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics &
Innovative (STEMI) subjects. In addition, top performing
