Rhythm/Rhyme: “Engine, Engine”
                   •  MM performs rhyme:

                                             “Engine, engine number nine
                                              Going down Chicago line.
                                              See it sparkle, see it shine.
                                              Engine, engine number nine.”
                   •  Miss Melody (MM) & Music Friends (MF) repeat rhyme together.

                       In class students (S) join too!

                   •  MM asks, “What was the number of the engine?” (Engine #9)
                   •  MM & MF add patting lap while repeating the rhyme

                   •  Beat - the steady pulse of music

                   •  Speak rhyme while patting beat on knees one more time







                             Teacher Led Activity

               Pause for Practice
                  Students (S) speak the rhyme, “Engine, Engine” with their own teacher (T)
                       S keep the beat while speaking the rhyme:
                              Speak and tap beat on head and shoulders
               S provide suggestions for other ways of keeping the beat
               S suggest other words for the poem (words that rhyme: such as “ten/hen”)
