• MM sings:
“No one in the house but Dinah, Dinah

No one in the house but me I know.
No one in the house but Dinah, Dinah,
Strumming on the old banjo.”
• Everyone sings along
• “Who is this song is about?” (Dinah)
• “What instrument is Dinah playing?” (banjo – a string instrument, similar to a guitar)

• MF look for a banjo in store and point it out
• Sing again while strumming an imaginary banjo to the steady beat
• Substitute ‘Dinah’ with names of S in class

Pause for Practice
S sing “Dinah”, strumming the beat
Substitute S names in place of ‘Dinah’
Tip: the student who is picked gets to pick the next student

• MF speaks the song, another MF sings it. S guess if they are using a speaking or
