The taxi and hire car industries
finally got a seat at the table
last month when the Minister
for Transport appointed me to
an advisory panel charged with
developing a COVID-19 support
package for the industry.

This is a great achievement, but it's taken over
12 months of persistent negotiations to get to
this point. The wheels turn slowly in government,
which is often frustrating for an industry in pain,
Rod Barton MLC but we are still moving forward. Victoria is the
Leader
Transport Matters Party only state with representation at this level and
I intend to make sure that is reflected in the
package presented to the Minister.

Joining me on this panel is the Parliamentary
Secretary to the Treasurer, Steve Dimopoulos,
who brings policy experience to the process. I
have worked with him on many varied issues
during my year in parliament and he is a strong
supporter of the taxi industry. He understands
the challenges we have faced.
