When we embrace self-responsibility through
the core principals of empathy, with pride in the
growth of our own autonomy, we are free to be
fully relational, free to fully experience ourselves
as part of a greater unity, whilst being present to
our here and now human experience.
With reflection and consideration, we are
available to engage in mindful conversation, not
only with ourselves and with others, but with all
that surrounds and supports us.
Autonomy doesn’t mean separateness from the
world. It means relatedness with the world.
I believe that it is unhelpful to separate
spirituality from daily life or regard it as a
separate entity. I am not suggesting for one
moment that we should not consciously make
time for specific spiritual practice, such as prayer
or meditation, but rather that we embrace all of
life from a place of spiritual consideration,
including of course, space and time to honor our
individual beliefs and practices.
To live a spiritual existence is a way of life. To
live a spiritual existence is to tread lightly.
Empathy gifts us with this possibility.
