Chapter 7
The Seventh Principle of Empathy
‘Relationship’
“Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are
but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web,
we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All
things connect.”
Chief Seattle.
Born 1780. Chief of the Suquamish Tribe.
As we come to the end our journey we meet the
seventh and the most fundamental principle of
empathy. Relationship.
Relationship, is at the very core of what it is to
be human. Relationship, and indeed Relating, is
at the very core of what it is to be alive. We are
in a continual state of relating and relatedness all
of the time.
Whether we are talking about being in
relationship with ourselves, or in relationship
with others.
