Chapter 3
Healthy Anger and Aggression
“You are born with a Warrior Spirit, your natural anger.
You can choose to develop your Spiritual Warrior, your healthy
anger,
lined up with your heart.”
Source unknown.
We are all no doubt aware of the negative outcomes of
aggression and anger, and so for most of us our ability to
develop an appreciation of these powerful emotions as
valuable can present us with a considerable challenge. Every
day we have only to pick up a newspaper or listen to the news
to hear of acts of violence that demonstrate the destructive
power of these emotions.
In truth, every emotion we have has a place in our lives, even
those that fall under the uneasy and uncomfortable category,
and each has a part to play in our well-being and in our ability
to navigate our lives successfully from a position of self-
responsibility and self-care.
One of the best ways to broaden our understanding of any of
our more challenging emotions is to think about them as pure,
raw emotional components, each one essential, valuable and
vital to us.
