opportunities, and have wonderful health and
prosperity, yet every time you engage in any
dialog with them, the sky is always falling, —
the glass is half empty? Sure, we all encounter
this unusual behavior.
It seems that some are not satisfied in having a
discussion unless they get to complain about
something. I have very little patience with that
type of conversation. In fact, I used to tell my
secretary, Fay Walker, to do my caring for me.
She laughed because she knew how I actually
felt. Please don't misunderstand me. I know
that there are those who have serious issues and
require professional treatment. I'm not
including those who are suffering and require
medication. I'm speaking of those who have
absolutely nothing physically or mentally wrong
but rely on habitual whining.
The ‘poor me’ syndrome (as it were) occurs
during the moment when the person first
realizes there is a definite benefit in sharing the
story of how unfortunate they’ve been in order
to receive attention and sympathy. Being a
victim can have good payoffs, after all. It also
