THE POWER OF TAKING THE PLUNGE
points out in his book, Leaders Eat Last, he
feels that there is a distraction addition, not
ADD or ADHD. We stimulate our children
with all the latest technology, then place them
in a traditional classroom and expect them to be
still and quiet. We have gradually progressed
into an age where drugs are the answer.
I like to refer to this epidemic as, “The boiling
frog syndrome.” If you drop a frog into hot
water, it will immediately jump out. However, if
you put a frog into water that is at room
temperature, then turn up the heat, it will lie in
the water and eventually boil to death. The frog
adjusts to the gradual climb in temperature. Are
we experiencing something similar? Are we
being desensitized to the conditions in our
environment because of the subtle changes?
Let's look at some facts.
In the 1950’s few of us went to weekly sessions
with a therapist. Today, according to the
Hoover Institute there are currently…
• 77,000 clinical psychologist
• 192,000 clinical social workers
• 105,000 mental health counselors
