Of course, by sharing this truth with some
might get them upset with me. I do find it
amazing that many seem to be fulfilled when
they constantly complain, then they’re off to see
the doctor to get some pills to feel better.
Nevertheless, it must be acknowledged that
there are often benefits to others proclaimed
misery.
I read where a psychoanalyst uses a unique line
of questioning. Whenever anyone first explains
their problems to him, the very first question he
asks himself is how convenient is this? In other
words, what are you getting out of this?
Dr. David Hawkins recommended putting a
sign up on the mirror where you could see it
every morning that reads, “Yours is the saddest
story I’ve ever heard!”
Dr. David Fink, a psychiatrist with the Veterans
Administration, wrote an article in Coronet
