Life Footprints – 59

               Those stuffed samosas………

Good marks promoted me to coveted St. Francis School with

new environment. We continued with Gani‟s rikshaw.

Didi gave 50paise daily as pocket money, which was

substantial that time. Hardly anyone gets that money.
Classmates were mostly Anglo-Indians and discrimination
               amongst us was unavoidable.

School canteen offered two grades of samosas – 10paise dry-
fruit filled and 5paise potato stuffed.

Best friend enjoyed 10paise samosa while others 5paise on
nearly daily basis. Friends compete secretly to become my

               best friend…..probably for dry-fruit samosa.

School time ends but memories last forever and sometimes

you look back at school photographs finding those recurring
               best friends………
