Correct spelling of Grammar……………
It was my first day in Hindi medium school, when attired in
crisp terricot uniform reached the class.
Strict looking English teacher entered with wooden stick.
Spotting a new face he insultingly asked why terricot uniform
when cotton was code. Felt deeply embarrassed.
If not enough, apprised class about my convent background
and knowing presumably better English. He asked spelling of
grammar, I intuitively replied “Grammer”. Cursing poor
convents‟ standard, commanded to pen 5000 times correct
spelling as GRAMMAR.
Whole evening cursed for his sure death tonight; teacher
lived for long and correct spelling of GRAMMAR still
chiseled on my heart.
