STRENGTH, ENDURANCE,
& FLEXIBILITY
KEY MESSAGES:
- Strength, endurance and flexibility exercises should be a
part of your fitness program.
- It is important to work your muscles at least twice a week to
keep them strong and moving.
- Being active everyday will help you be healthy and fit.
Strength: the amount of force your muscles can exert. Strength gives
you the ability to jump higher, throw farther, and sprint faster.
Endurance: the ability of your body to keep moving for a long period
of time. Endurance can help you run farther distances without stop-
ping and practice longer with fewer breaks.
Flexibility: the ability of your body to move easily in all directions.
TIPS
• Use the stairs instead of the elevator
• Park your car in the farthest spot and walk to the store
• Carry the groceries to the car instead of using a cart
• Perform exercises such as planks and push-ups during
commercial breaks of your favorite TV show.
