○ If someone makes a mistake, show
encouragement and say something
positive like “good try” or “nice job”
○ Whether you win or lose, shake hands
with the other team after the game is
over and let them know that they did a
good job
○ Whether you win or lose, let your
teammates know they did a good job
What shows poor sportsmanship?
• Being mad or angry at teammates or other
kids playing
• Yelling
• Cheating
• Making fun of other kids
• Saying mean things to or about other kids
• Not cheering for your team
• Not letting everyone play in the game
• Not shaking hands with the other team
after the game is over
Make playtime or game time about having
fun and learning new games and skills and:
• Be a good sport
• Be a good friend
• Learn new games
• Meet new friends
• Improve your skills
• Focus on having fun and learning, NOT on
winning and losing
