THE EGO Ivy Informer

Program Focus

Programs are on the move in EGO! I can’t believe we are now going into the sixth month of “Launching New
Dimensions of Service” in AKA! As you peruse this month’s EGO Ivy Informer, you will be able to read about
the many program events and happenings with our Target Programs.

I am very excited and pleased with our first 1908 Playground Mobilization Community Impact Day. On Saturday,
May 16, 2015, Target IV, led by Soror Brenda Chunn, held a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony at the James
A. Lane Boys and Girls Club of Huntsville, Alabama. It was a huge success and well attended by over 100
participants that included members of EGO and the community at large. There were activities, dance groups,
food, fun, and fellowship for all in attendance.

Finally, I want to share ways Sorors can support our programs in the upcoming months ahead:

 THINK HBCU is launching its EGO Postcard Campaign 5000. Please contact Soror Venita

Clisby King, Target I Vice Chairman, by accepting the challenge of helping us to touch

5,000 with this campaign.
 Target I: Educational Enrichment will be hosting our first ASCEND graduation in the

month of June. Please come out and support this wonderful event in your pink and green.
 Our One Million Backpacks Drive will begin the month of June. Every Soror has been

asked to donate a backpack or supplies for underprivileged children in our community.
 Target II: Health Promotion will be conducting “Longest Day” Alzheimer’s Support

Activities. Exercise the body and mind leading up to our next Community Impact Day on

June 20, 2015. by
 Target II: Health Promotion will also observe

participating in international conference activities sponsored by the International Program

Committee.
 Target V: Global Impact will be holding a reception on June 16, 2015, Jackson Center to

promote their Global Classroom project in sponsoring students to travel to the United

Nations. What a great opportunity for some well deserving students in our area. Please join

them in this effort by lending your monetary support to ensure they will be able to

accomplish this goal.

Programming is the heart of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. My goal is to empower each member
to move the sorority’s program agenda forward in the best possible manner. Thank you in advance for your

support as we walk this journey of promoting programs in our local community and beyond.

Sisterly,
Soror Cheryl R. Davis
EGO Anti-Basileus/Program Chairman
