Our Precious Memories of Aunty Myl.
Exactly 46 years ago, to the day, “21 August 1974” was
st
the day of our wedding. We wanted someone who was
very special, admired and looked up to, and whom we
had a reciprocal love to put the veil on the bride. That
very special person for us, was Aunty Myl.
Uncle and Aunty Myl were one of daddy’s (Jayaratnam

time of day, if you visited Aunty, you were assured of

was infused with love. I believe that’s why everything she
prepared was so tasty and memorable.
If someone asked me to mention two things that come to

repertoire in English, Tamil and Sinhala that were
endless. All this with Aunty at the helm. She hardly ever
needed a word sheet and knew the lyrics of practically all
