Messages from former Royal Junior School students
The first tribute is from Sujanthakumar who later went on to captain the
Royal College Rugby team in 1980.

"A teacher par excellence and undoubtedly, The Best of them all"
The above prelude pretty much encapsulates who Mrs. Mylvaganam was,
what she meant to her students, and the legacy she left behind at Royal
Junior School. Some of us were very fortunate to have had the privilege to
be under her tutelage in grade 6, during which she taught us English as well.
Although there are many anecdotes that I can vividly recall from her
lessons, let me share one of the most interesting lessons that remains etched
in my memory.
"Children, learn to discern special from especial. Let me give you an
example, "You children are very special to me that's why I am making the
extra effort, especially to teach you how to distinguish one from another".
One can infer from Mrs. Mylvagnam's choice of words in the classroom
"you children are very special to me", that she was not just another teacher,
but also a mentor to all her students.
Let me conclude my tribute to a vivacious lady, who was the most
dedicated, affectionate and compassionate teacher of our childhood days.
My brothers Sureshkumar and Sukumar join me in saying Thank You
Teacher for being a great influence in our lives.

Mrs. Mylvaganam was the first teacher to demonstrate that a teacher can
educate with kindness and compassion without instilling fear of punishment
which was very common among most of the teachers during that time. She
introduced me to Scrabble which improved my spelling tremendously. She
