Post modernism is the style that developed as a reaction against Modernism. Many architects felt that
Modernism, because it had lasted so long, had drained the creativity out of art and design. Modernism
had become an equation to follow. Something new was needed to breathe life and creativity back into
architecture. As a result, Post Modernism was born.
There were generally only two rules- “anything goes”
and “less is a bore.” In Post Modernism colour,
decoration and texture are once again celebrated.
Architects borrow ideas from the past. Culture
becomes important again and building are built to be
context specific. Arhcitects focus on providing
innovative solutions to people’s spatial needs.
