Mindset 2: “I Don’t Have Time”
It can be tough to balance work, your social life and family. The thought of throwing
credit management into the mix can seem overwhelming; we get that.
However, we live in a great time for monitoring credit. Websites like Credit Karma allow
you to check your TransUnion and Equifax credit scores whenever you want and the
scores are updated weekly.
Credit Karma also gives you your full credit history, too, which means you can check your
scores and your credit history in about five minutes.
Twenty minutes a week will keep you up-to-date on your scores and alert you of any
fraudulent accounts opened in your name.
Mindset 3: “I’m Afraid to Look”
In our opinion, this is probably the most powerful mindset keeping the average consumer
from cultivating good credit scores.
Many of us are afraid to check up on our credit scores because we think those scores are
going to be worse than we thought.
It’s the same mentality we have about going to the doctor for a check-up – we’re afraid to
set up the appointment because we fear what the doctor might find.
Here’s the problem with a mindset of fear – you can’t fix problems if you don’t know
they exist. The best way to alleviate anxiety over the financial unknown is to make the
numbers known.
