I took a moment to take this all in.

‘Twenty eighth November sixty seven well the seven at least.’ Ray piped up.

‘What?’

‘The cabbies license was my wife’s birthday, well almost. Two eight one one seven. That’s his cab
license number.’

‘Right, I can assure you of my total discretion and I thank you all most sincerely.’

The ARV dropped me off and I rang Brenda with the cabbies licence plate number. I wanted to get

from him first hand what had happened in his taxi and whether Anne had said anything to him
about who she had seen in the American Embassy vehicle.

It didn’t take Brenda long to ring me back with a name and an address.

‘You are in luck, Mo Tibbet is a musher.’

‘A what?’ I exclaimed.

‘A musher, means he owns his own cab so he has no need to drive around on spec. hoping to pay
his cab rental. He will probably be at home till the afternoon rush hour.’

Bren was right. The cab sat on the front garden of his Hounslow council house sparkling from a

recent wash.

Mo was a friendly and helpful chap and remembered the night he picked Anne up very clearly.

‘Yea, she got in the cab and said Perivale please and an American pushed his way in as well. They
spoke briefly and she said she didn’t mind sharing and eventually he got out at Park Royal. That’s

when I recognised we were being followed and all the fun started.’

‘After the police stopped the car following you, did she say anything?’
