That was why it came to me. The second intercept referred to Edward Alladyce working for Russia.’
‘Do you think these were then passed to Anne?’
‘I am sure of it. I am certain Barker passed them on to get Anne involved. She would have thought
the intercepts had come direct to her.’
Did you ever see the intercepts she received?’
‘No.’
‘Ok. Thanks Fred and don’t blame yourself. Barker was going to get Anne involved anyway. He must
have thought someone in the Cottage was Edward Alladyce and Anne’s connections would help to
uncover who that really was. He did not realise it was in fact a Russian mole.’
