Check all the outbound American flights from Heathrow. If he didn’t arrive direct from the USA, I’m
willing to bet he went home quickest route.’
I stood looking over Bren’s shoulder. ‘Bingo!’ we both shouted together.
‘Write the details down for me Bren and I will see if our friends at the immigration and passport
control have taken any snapshots of Mister Caldicot. Could you ring Alexander James for me at
Heathrow and tell him I am on my way.’
*****
Bryant! Long time no see. We get to see many of your colleagues from the Home Office but we are
always glad to see you guys, your jobs are much more exciting than theirs are. How can we help?’
‘Nothing very exciting, no guns on the tarmac I can assure you Alexander. I am looking for someone
and hope your chaps have taken his picture. These are his details so perhaps somebody can go
through your photographic records with me.’
‘Absolutely old boy! But this is a departure flight.’
‘That’s all I have for the moment but I am hoping if we can get a shot of him we can trawl through
arrivals and find where he came from.’
‘No problem there. I will get Simon to help you he is a whizz at this sort of thing. Let’s go into the
control centre.’
We passed row upon row of cctv monitors towards a small room at one end with a handwritten
notice on the door “RECORDS”
Simon soon spooled to the appropriate date and it seemed in next to no time a face filled the
screen.
‘That’s him.’ Simon announced. ‘Stephen Caldicot. Travelling on an American passport so we
automatically copy it. I’ll print out the photo and passport for you.’
I looked at the passport photo, it was certainly not anybody I recognised.
‘ Now I believe you want to trawl to find his arrival flight. I’ll look for a passport match first.’
After several minutes, Simon stopped the search. ‘‘I’ve gone back two weeks from his departure; do
you want me to go back further?’
‘No, I don’t think he came in earlier than that.’
‘’In that case he must have come in with a different passport or arrived at a different airport. I’ll do
a National passport check but I need authorisation from Mr. James for that, excuse me a moment.’
Simon soon returned. ‘I am sorry Mr. Bryant, I didn’t know you were with Intelligence, I thought
you were police. I can do the check now.’
