Emily Ambinder, M.D. Assistant Professor, Breast Imaging
Dr. Emily Ambinder is an Assistant Professor in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Department of
Radiology and Radiological Science. She specializes in all aspects of breast imaging including
mammography, tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and image-guided breast
procedures.
Dr. Ambinder graduated from Emory College in 2008 with a degree in Chemistry and
Mathematics. She then attended Emory School of Medicine, and spent an additional year
completing a Master’s of Science in Clinical Research at Emory's Laney Graduate School. After a
preliminary internal medicine internship at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, she attended
diagnostic radiology residency at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Ambinder graduated radiology residency
in 2018. Following residency, she completed a year-long fellowship in Breast Imaging at Johns
Hopkins.
Dr. Ambinder's research focuses on improving breast cancer detection, with a focus on new technologies and public
health. She joins the Johns Hopkins faculty in August 2019.
Jennifer Son, M.D. Assistant Professor, Pediatric Radiology
Dr. Jennifer Son graduated from Harvard Medical School in 2007. She subsequently completed
a diagnostic radiology residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA.
Following residency, she completed a year-long pediatric radiology fellowship at Boston
Children's Hospital. She is currently board certified in Diagnostic Radiology with an additional
Certificate of Added Qualification in pediatric radiology. She has worked in both the private
practice setting and in academics as a pediatric radiologist. She worked as a pediatric
radiologist in University of Maryland since 2017 and served as assistant residency program
director.
Dr. Son’s clinical and research interests focus on gastrointestinal and genitourinary imaging in
children with a special emphasis on ultrasound. Dr. Son joins our department as an Assistant
Professor in July 2019 and will serve as the new fellowship program director of pediatric
radiology.
Melike Guryildirim, M.D. Assistant Professor, Pediatric Radiology
Dr. Melike Guryildirim graduated from Hacettepe University School of Medicine in 2008. She
subsequently completed a diagnostic radiology residency at Gazi University Hospital in 2014.
After residency, she completed a two year-long fellowship in Neuroradiology at Rush University
Medical Center where she was the chief fellow. She then completed a one-year fellowship in
Advanced Imaging. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Radiology at Rush University
Medical Center in Neuroradiology.
Dr. Guryildirim is ABR certified. She is also certified by the American Board of Magnetic
Resonance Safety as MR Medical Director and has served in this role at Rush Medical Center.
She actively leads resident/fellow education for MR Safety practices. Dr. Guryildirim's research
focused on functional brain imaging of epilepsy patients, hydrocephalus and headache. Dr.
Guryildirim will be joining as a pediatric neuroradiology faculty starting September 2019.
