NATIONAL NURSES WEEK
A Heartfelt
TH NKS
For All You Do!
Honored to Serve You
I would like to take this time to recognize and thank the Imaging Nurses and our patient care tech for all
they do throughout the year. This year Nurses’ week celebration is May 6th-12th. I realize they mostly
serve our IR patients, but we deliver care to patients throughout the entire Imaging department. We are
responsible for prepping and recovering patients in IR, CT, US, and fluoro. We also insert IV’s, perform
point of care testing and administer medications in NM and MRI. Nurses even perform follow up calls after
procedures to check on patients to make sure their pain is under control and to see if they have any
concerns regarding their procedure. When a patient has an emergency, the nursing station gets the phone
call for help. They also perform many other duties beyond taking care of the patients and below is a list of
duties that many do not realize:
• Noticing irregularities and problems
• Teaching
• Advocating for patients beyond the healthcare environment
• Caring for the patient’s loved ones
• Building trust with patients
• Consistently and carefully adhering to protocols
• Staying up-to-date in nursing and healthcare
• Analyzing variables to deduce the impact on a patient
• Niche duties connected to specialties
As the Imaging nursing manager, I am honored and privileged to work beside such a talented,
companionate, and competent group of nursing staff, and I believe we have the best nursing team in this
entire hospital. Please take time during our special week to thank them for all of their hard work.
Again thank you to Cameron, MaryBeth, Denise, Shawn, Sandy, Alvin, Patti, Tom, Gina, Melissa, and
Larissa for all you do every day for our patients.
