7 Operating segments
The Group has four reportable segments, as described below, which are the Group’s strategic business units.
The strategic business units offer different products and services, and are managed separately based on the
Group’s management and internal reporting structure. For each of the strategic business units, the Executive
Management Committee reviews internal management reports on at least a quarterly basis. The Group presents
segment information to its Executive Committee, which is the Group’s Chief Operating Decision Maker, based on
International Financial Reporting Standards.
Based on the market segment and extent of customer turnover, the group reformed the arrangement of
segments from previous years into four operational segments as described below;
• Corporate and Investment Banking - The division provides bespoke comprehensive banking
products and a full range of services to multinationals, large domestic corporates and other institutional clients.
The division focuses on customers in key industry sector with minimum annual turnover of N20 billion. It also
provides innovative finance solutions to meet the short, medium and long-term financing needs for the Bank’s
clients as well as relationship banking services to the Bank’s financial institutions customers.
• Commercial banking - The commercial banking division has presence in all major cities in the country.
It provides commercial banking products and services to the non-institutional clients, medium and small
corporate segments of the Nigerian market whose annual turnover is above N1bn. The division also provides
financial services to public sector, commercial institutions and oriental corporates.
• Personal banking – The personal banking division is the retail arm of the bank which provides financial
products and services to individuals (personal and inclusive segments) and private banking segment.
The private banking segment focuses on offering bespoke services to High Net worth Individuals (HNI) and Ultra
High Net worth Individuals (UHNI) by handling their wealth portfolio needs both locally and abroad.
• Business Banking - The Business banking division is a hybrid of Commercial and Personal Banking
Divisions. It focuses on small and medium scale enterprises providing them with business solutions to support
their growing business needs. The division delivers commercial banking products and services to SME customers
with annual turnover of less than 1billion.

- Reported revenue, from both external customers and intersegment sales or transfers, 10 per cent or more of
the combined revenue, internal and external, of all operating segments, or
-the absolute measure of its reported profit or loss 10 per cent or more of the greater, in absolute amount, of
