Presidents Report – Kendall Hatley
Kendall reported that the golf outing was successful and he would like to see more at future
conventions. He commented on the many challenges he sees coming and looks forward to
addressing them.
Treasure’s Report – Kendall Hatley
Kendall reported that the organization is down about twenty five hundred dollars from last year at
the same time. He thanked our good vendor support and asked all members to support these
vendors.
He stated that we will be needing funds to pay our lobbyist, approximately ten to fifteen thousand
dollars. Donations are always appreciated.
Legislative Report – Diane Charles
Diane reported that we will need to retain our current lobbyist; she has been working on our
behalf for 20 years and has not charged us for the past 2 years. This year, the OD’s attempted
to prevent online eye exams, the bill’s language would have prevented LDOs from duplicating
glasses. They have agreed to alter the language and will be moving forward with the bill. Diane
also reported that the Department of Health will be opening our law to change our scope of
practice for apprenticeships. Once the law is open, anyone can come in and attach and alter. In
the past, corporate has threatened to split our license, or to remove our licensures. To protect
our license, we will require a lot of funding. Diane asked all members to find their legislators and
introduce themselves.
