Karen said our local DNR field staff were not aware of any sig- visit our website @
nificant cormorant problems, although bird harrassment is con-
ducted at our fish stocking sites at Algonac and Port Huron to www.SailingSinglesClub.com
protect the newly stocked fish.
However, I did some further research on the DNR's website
where annual Fisheries Status Reports are posted for Lake St.
Clair and the St. Clair/Detroit Rivers. The DNR works with our
charter fishermen to report when they fish, and what they catch.
Looking thru the last 11 years, it appears that perch production
is actually much lower than previous years. Not sure why, but if
you are concerned, you can report sightings of concentrations of
cormorants at the DNR's website at any time to start building a
database for our area at www.dnr.state.mi.us/cormorantobs/.
