Hi everyone,
Once more we are approaching the end of a
calendar year. As is customary for the last
chairman’s report of the year, first a quick recap
on the club events during this year.
As usual there was no club night in January therefore our first
club night was in February. Our original guest speaker for that
club night had to cancel but our own Richard Nice stepped
forward at short notice and gave a fascinating insight into his
passion for Koi breeding.
For the March club night we had Mark Davis of Cuttlebrook Koi
Farm entertaining us once again. Mark is one of the best
professional speakers on the Koi circuit and has a range of
different talks, it was therefore disappointing that the turnout was
low. Unfortunately a low turnout became the theme for club nights
during 2018 .
At the April club night David Isted of Healthy Koi entertained us
with a talk about drum filters. For the second part of the talk we
had an informal gathering around an Oase drum and also a
Nexus fitted with a Draco drum. It really bought the topic to life
being able to see and touch the items being discussed.
The May club night saw Adam Byer as our guest speaker. Adam
has supplied quality Kohakus (red & white Koi) for our last two
Grow & Show competitions and on the night Adam explained his
10 year breeding plan. Later in May on a nice sunny day we had
our first outdoor event which was a pond open day ending up
with a BBQ at Mike & Sally Wilsons.
