Secretary/Raffle Report 2018



   Yet another year nearly over, with the long hot summer a
   distant memory, where does the time go?


   We have had a reasonably  busy year, with  the Grow &

   Show  judging,  pond  clearances  and  the  subsequent
   auction,  the visit from the South Wales Koi Club and the
   return  visit    back  to  them,    plus  the  holding  of  Club

   Afternoons in members’ gardens in place of Club Night.
   I must thank both Ian and Karen Swan, and Arnie and
   Mavis Piddington  for  opening their gardens and making
   us all feel so very welcome.   These two afternoons were

   very well-attended, and have encouraged us to arrange
   even more such occasions in 2019 .



   Apart from the two instances mentioned above, and the
   most recent Club Night, turnout and support from members
   has again  been disappointing.  This is proving to be very

   discouraging for those on the Committee who are expected
   to come up with ideas to encourage more members to play
   if  not  an  active  part,  then  at  the  very  least  to  show  an

   interest  by    supporting  Club  events.    If  we  don’t  get
   feedback by way of support,  we will very quickly run out
   of ideas of how to increase participation and the Club may
   well fold, which would be a great shame.



   The Raffle has continued to be well-supported, and shows
   a small profit each time.  It is very difficult to balance what
