I received an Exceptional Performance Award for “Superior Accomplishment
and Valuable Service” from a sister agency. I also received a certificate of
recognition from the Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, for “promoting
peace and stability for this Nation” during my years of service. Unfortunately,
sick building syndrome caused by chronic exposure to mold in the
workplace forced me to retire early. I am now the Vice President of the
Chemical Sensitivities Disorders Association.
I am Mary Scruggs and I served the Department of the Navy, the Department
of Health and Human Services and the Social Security Administration, for a
total of 36 years of Federal Service. I was a Social Insurance Representative
for the Social Security Administration. I worked in a field office, where I dealt
exclusively with the public and determined eligibility for entitlement to
benefits. I received many awards for my dedication and excellent
performance.
I am Howard Smentkowski and I served in the Defense Intelligence Agency.
I began as a photo interpreter and ended my career in a supervisory position.
In 1973, I received a “Letter of Appreciation,” from Robert R. Davis, Chief,
Imagery Interpretation Division, Directorate for Intelligence, which echoed
the thanks of Vice Admiral V.P. dePoix, USN, Director Defense Intelligence
Agency, and Rear Admiral Donald B. Whitmire, USN, Assistant Deputy
Director for Intelligence, for identifying and contributing information, which
rendered an artist’s concept of a Soviet aircraft carrier in the waters near Cuba.
My work was instrumental in keeping our country safe during a very unstable
time.
I am Ronnie Stewart, Sr., a Veteran, and I served in the Department of
Defense. I worked for 38 years in my combined military and civilian service.
During my military service career, I faithfully served my country I was
instrumental in providing support to worldwide military operations and our
warfighters, along with protecting information that was vital to national
security. I was designated as mission essential and required to report to work
under all weather conditions. When I reported to work, I took great pride in
knowing that my work protected this nation.
