Chairman of IPERINDO
On behalf of Indonesia Shipbuilding and Offshore Association (IPERINDO), I am pleased to announce and endorse the 6th
edition of Indonesia Maritime Expo (IME), which will take place in Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO) from the 10th – 12th
October 2017.
Indonesia Maritime Expo (IME) is organised by Reed Panorama Exhibitions, the Indonesia arm of Reed Exhibitions (UK)
which organises over 500 events a year in more than 30 countries. Indonesia Maritime Expo (IME) is part of the Reed
Maritime Event cluster comprising of Indonesia Maritime Expo 2017 in Jakarta, Indonesia; Kormarine 2017 in Busan,
Korea; Oceanology International China 2017 in Qingdao, China and Asia Pacific Maritime 2018 in Singapore. Reed Maritime
Events focus on the maritime industry in the Asia Pacific arena and are internationally well recognized by the industry as
the must attend event in the region.
We are proud to be a part of Reed Maritime Events and is excited to announce our full support to the Indonesia Maritime,
Transport and Logistics Week 2017, an important week that congregates 3 core drivers of Indonesia economy; Maritime,
Transportation and Logistics; into one single platform from 10 – 12 October 2017 in Jakarta International Expo.
The Indonesia Maritime, Transport and Logistics Week 2017 is a national agenda hosted by KADIN Indonesia and
with knowledge partner Bisnis Indonesia, with the aim to update the transformation of Indonesia from a consuming
to producing nation, a vision set by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) back in 2015. Logistics cost, transportation
Infrastructures and the need to rebuild Indonesia as a maritime nation are some of the key factors deterring economic
growths in Indonesia and this week aims to showcase issues, challenges, investments and solution to reduce logistics cost
from 24% of the GDP to 19.2% by 2019. In addition, the transformation of Indonesia as a “Global Maritime Fulcrum” has
spurred the maritime industry to build capability to scale towards world class sea transportation & logistics connecting
all parts of Indonesia to the world. The Indonesia government have launched several economic stimulus packages (15th
to date) to support manufacturing investment throughout Indonesia and to clear the bottleneck of logistics via Maritime,
Transport and Logistics sectors. With the current progress since 2015, I believe Indonesia is on track to achieve the
economic growth envisioned by our government.
The Maritime Industry stands to benefit with the Global Maritime Fulcrum announced by our President Joko Widodo
(Jokowi) to accelerate growth in the maritime industry. With the push for more maritime components to be locally
manufactured via investment and technology transfer; encouraging shipyards and maintenance facilities to scale up,
joint venture, and to compete regionally; scaling up the capabilities of our Indonesia ports all over Indonesia; increasing
government backed shipping routes to drive logistics between cities down (especially on routes where special economic
zones are), the Indonesia Maritime Industry is on the fast track for growth.
The Indonesia Maritime, Transport & Logistics Week 2017 will be the key event for IPERINDO to present the best of
Indonesia shipyards, maintenance facilities as well as locally produced marine components to the government, the ship
owners, the logistics service providers and to the entire Maritime industry.
As part of our IPERINDO programme with Reed Maritime Events, we will be organising the Indonesia Shipyards Pavilion
to showcase the strength and capabilities of Indonesia shipyards and maintenance facilities. With the vision of becoming a
Maritime Nation, IPERINDO’s Indonesia Shipyards Pavilion will be formed in Indonesia Maritime Expo 2017, and thereafter
continue its promotion in Kormarine 2017 (Korea) and end off in Asia Pacific Maritime 2018, the largest gathering of
the maritime industry in Singapore, the world maritime hub. During IME 2017, IPERINDO will continue its quarterly
programme, The IPERINDO Fair, which will be the congregating point of all stakeholders in the Indonesia Ship Building
Industry in Indonesia.
It is my pleasure to invite you to join us in the 6th edition of Indonesia Maritime Expo and the inaugural Indonesia Maritime,
Transport & Logistics Week 2017, both happening in Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) from the 10th – 12th October
2017.
