B.5.0 SURROUNDING POPULATION DISTRIBUTION

Information about the nature of the land use and the size and distribution of
the population in the vicinity of the industrial activity to which the report
relates

Within the 4 km (13,123 ft) radius of the plant (refer to Figure B.5.2), there is a
mixture of industrial facilities, offices of both government and private sector, palm oil
plantations, rubber plantations and residential areas. The nearest industrial facilities
(i.e. Rattan Factory and Teck Seng Food Industries) and residential (Staff Quarters
and Taman Kekwa) located within a 600 m radius from KT1 & KT2 WTP as shown in
Figure B.5.1. The residential areas comprise houses, communal areas and places
of worship.

The total population of Segamat District is about 135,575 (data from Department of
Statistics Malaysia Official Portal).
