B.3.4 Chlorinator Room

Kampung Tengah 1 Water Treatment Plant

Two (2) units of 10 kg/hr gas chlorinator for pre-chlorination are installed. Pre-
chlorination for algae control and intermediate chlorination is necessary only when
iron or manganese is present in the settled water.

Two (2) units of 10 kg/hr gas chlorinator for post chlorination are installed. Post
chlorination is always dosed to disinfect filtered water and to maintain a required
residue in the clear water tank. Both systems will have only one as duty and one as
standby.
The pre-chlorination dosing rate is manually adjusted proportionally to the raw water
inlet flow rate. The ejector installed is a manual system in the chlorinator room, and
the dosing points are located at the mixing channel after the aerator. The post-
chlorination dosing rate is manually adjusted according to the filtered water flow rate
and Chlorine residual values. The ejector installed is a manual system mounted at
the filter gallery next to the Chlorine dosing chamber.
