Chapter 2: The Key Players
THE NEOCONSERVATIVES
The Neoconservatives believe that it is our
willingness and our military power that makes America
great. Neoconservatives advocate the use of force and
manipulation to attain goals. Neocons are people
involved in the secret manipulation or control of
government and military policy and have no regard for
the America’s democratically elected leadership. They
may or may not be government officials. War is the
most profitable industry in the world—and the Neocons
make constant profits with constant wars.
The Neoconservatives act as an invisible hand
over the Western world. We can see the results of its
actions, but we cannot see the hand itself. Some people
refer to it as the shadow government, the iron triangle,
or the military industrial complex. The term military
industrial complex originates from a speech in 1961 by
President Dwight D. Eisenhower in his farewell address
to the nation. In the speech he gave a warning to the
American people about the intimate relationship
between the military establishment, the political
structure, and the defense industry.
In the speech he stated,
“...Only an alert and
knowledgeable citizenry can compel
the proper meshing of the huge
industrial and military machinery of
defense with our peaceful methods
and goals, so that security and
liberty may prosper together.”
