Hashem took them out of Egypt at a moment’s no ce. The Pesach, Matzah, and Maror are all
about the precise mes, and the exact moments of major occurences that took place. All of
them represent Hashem doing things in a precise manner. We should use the seder to recognize
Hashem’s control over everything in our lives and throughout the world.
, ְו ִה ַגּ ְד ָתּ ְל ִב ְנ ַבּיוֹם ַההוּא ֵלא ֹמר: ֶשׁ ֶנּ ֱא ַמר,ְבּ ָכל דּוֹר ָודוֹר ַח ָיב ָא ָדם ִל ְראוֹת ֶאת ַﬠ ְצמוֹ ְכּ ִאלוּ הוּא ֶָי ֶָצא ִמ ִמּ ְצ ַָרים
ֶא ָלּא ַאף אוֹ ָתנוּ ָגּ ַאל, ל ֹא ֶאת ֲאבוֹ ֵתינוּ ִבּ ְל ָבד ָגּ ַאל ַה ָקּדוֹשׁ ָבּרוּ הוּא. ַבּ ֲﬠבוּר ֶזה ָﬠ ָשׂה ה' ִלי ְבּ ֵצא ִתי ִמ ִמּ ְצ ַרים
ָל ֶתת ָלנוּ ֶאת ָה ָא ֶרץ ֲא ֶשׁר ִנ ָשׁ ַבּע ַל ֲא ֹב ֵתנוּ, ְל ַמ ַﬠן ָה ִביא ֹא ָתנוּ, ְואוֹ ָתנוּ הוֹ ִציא ִמ ָשׁם: ֶשׁ ֶנּ ֱא ַמר,ִﬠ ָמּ ֶהם
In each and every generation a person must see himself as if he personally left Egypt. As it
says, “And you shall tell your son on that day as follows: for this purpose Hashem did for me
when I left Egypt.” The Holy One blessed is He did not only redeem our ancestors; He
redeemed us as well. As it says, “And He took us out from there in order to bring us to and to
give us the Land He promised to our forefathers.”
Cover the Matzah and raise the cup of wine until it is drunk at the end of Maggid.
ְל ַﬠ ֵלּה וּ ְל ַק ֵלּס ְל ִמי ֶשׁ ָﬠ ָשׂה ַל ֲאבוֹ ֵתינוּ, ְל ָב ֵר, ְל ַה ֵדּר, ְלרוֹ ֵמם, ְל ָפ ֵאר, ְל ַשׁ ֵבּ ַח, ְל ַה ֵלל,ְל ִפי ָכ ֲא ַנ ְחנוּ ַח ָי ִבים ְלהוֹדוֹת
, וּ ֵמ ֲא ֵפ ָלה ְלאוֹר ָגּדוֹל, וּ ֵמ ֵא ֶבל ְליוֹם טוֹב, הוֹ ִצי ָאנוּ ֵמ ַﬠ ְבדוּת ְל ֵחרוּת ִמ ָיּגוֹן ְל ִשׂ ְמ ָחה:ְו ָלנוּ ֶאת ָכּל ַה ִנ ִסּים ָה ֵאלוּ
ַה ְללוּ ָיהּ: ְונ ֹא ַמר ְל ָפ ָניו ִשׁי ָרה ֲח ָד ָשׁה.וּ ִמ ִשּׁ ְﬠבּוּד ִל ְג ֻא ָלּה
Therefore it is our duty to thank and praise, pay tribute and glorify, exalt and honor, bless and
acclaim the One who performed all these miracles for our fathers and for us. He took us out of
slavery into freedom, out of grief into joy, out of mourning into a festival, out of darkness into a
great light, out of slavery into redemption. We will recite a new song before Him! Halleluyah!
Hallel – הלל
ִמ ִמּ ְז ַרח ֶשׁ ֶמשׁ ַﬠד ְמבוֹאוֹ ְמ ֻה ָלּל ֵשׁם. ְי ִהי ֵשׁם ה' ְמ ֹב ָר ֵמ ַﬠ ָתּה ְוִ ַﬠד עוֹ ָלם.' ַה ְללוּ ֶאת ֵשׁם ה,'ַה ְללוּ ָיהּ ַה ְללוּ ַﬠ ְב ֵדי ה
? ַה ַמּ ְשׁ ִפּי ִלי ִל ְראוֹת ַבּ ָשּׁ ַמ ִים וּ ָב ָא ֶרץ, ִמי ַכּה' ֱא קינוּ ַה ַמּ ְג ִבּי ִהי ָל ָשׁ ֶבת. ַﬠל ַה ָשּׁ ַמ ִים ְכּבוֹדוֹ,' ָרם ַﬠל ָכּל גּוֹ ִים ה.'ה
ֵאם ַה ָבּ ִנים, מוֹ ִשׁי ִבי ֲﬠ ֶק ֶרת ַה ַבּ ִית. ִﬠם ְנ ִדי ֵבי ַﬠמּוֹ, ְלהוֹ ִשׁי ִבי ִﬠם ְנ ִדי ִבים, ֵמ ַא ְשׁ ֹפּת ָי ִרים ֶא ְביוֹן,ְמ ִקי ִמי ֵמ ָﬠ ָפר ָדּל
ַה ְללוּ ָיהּ.ִשׂ ְמ ָחה
Praise the Lord! Praise, you servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord. Blessed be the
name of the Lord from this time forth and forever. From the rising of the sun to its setting, the
Lord’s name is to be praised. High above all nations is the Lord; above the heavens is His glory.
Who is like the Lord our G-d, who though enthroned on high, looks down upon heaven and
earth? He raises the poor man out of the dust and lifts the needy one out of the trash heap, to
