Rachtzah – רחצה
Wash hands while reciting the traditional blessing for washing the hands:
ֲא ֶשׁר ִק ְד ָשׁנוּ ְבּ ִמ ְצוֹ ָתיו ְו ִצ ָוּנוּ ַﬠל ְנ ִטי ַלת ָי ַד ִים,ָבּרוּ ַא ָתּה ה' ֱא קינוּ ֶמ ֶל ָהעוֹ ָלם
Praised are you, Adonai, Lord our G-d, Ruler of the universe, who has taught us the way of
holiness through commandments, commanding us to wash our hands.
Motzi Matzah – מוֹ ִציא מצה
Take the three matzot - the broken piece between the two whole ones – and hold them
in your hand and recite the following blessing:
ָבּרוּ ַא ָתּה ה' ֱא קינוּ ֶמ ֶל ָהעוֹ ָלם ַהמּוֹ ִציא ֶל ֶחם ִמן ָה ָא ֶרץ
Praised are you, Hashem, Lord our G-d, Ruler of the universe, who provides sustenance from
the earth.
Before eating the matzah, put the bottom matzah back in its place and continue, reciting
the following blessing while holding only the top and middle piece of matzah.
ֲא ֶשׁר ִק ְדּ ָשנוּ ְבּ ִמ ְצוֹ ָתיו ְו ִצ ָוּנוּ ַﬠל ֲא ִכי ַלת ַמ ָצּה,ָבּרוּ ַא ָתּה ה' ֱא קינוּ ֶמ ֶל ָהעוֹ ָלם
Praised are you, Hashem, Lord our G-d, Ruler of the universe, who has taught us the way of
holiness through commandments, commanding us to eat matzah.
Break the top and middle matzot into pieces and distribute them to everyone at the
table to eat while reclining to the left.
