Thorn In The Heart

They and Nguyen always like to play the spinning top on the
backyard after their school, send up the paper-kites into the air at
sunset on the grass field closing their house. While Nguyen was
prepared to go to the village school at next month, and Nguyen’s
father was looking for the house, and land to buy with the hope
he will make the bright future for his family.

After two weeks Nguyen’s family were living in his father
cousin house with happy of love and sharing for each other of
laugh and working. One evening at dinner time Nguyen’s father
cousin placed his chop ticks on his rice bowl. It means he does
not take anything more to eat. He looked at his empty bowl
however he did not need to see anything in it but seemed there
were so many things crossed in his mind and they were fighting
to each other. Suddenly he started at Nguyen’s father, while
Nguyen’s father was taking a piece of the fried young carp on
the disk among the dinner table, put in the tomato sauce bowl,
and readied to take it up for eating.

             “Trung-Tinh...” Called, Man.

Nguyen’s father placed the fried young carp that mixed with
the tomato sauce in his rice bowl, looked at Man in surprise.

             “Yes...”

“ You were already living in the village two weeks. I think
you knew some things that will relate to your family in the
         future.”

Whole two family members were quiet in wonder. They
looked at both of them in a second and continued to take the
foods for eating, but Nguyen’s mother could not eat anymore
after she heard Nguyen’s father cousin said. She looked at her
husband in worry while she listens to the conversation between
         two men.
