Chinh Nguyên
A star general got up and left the sofa. He walked back and
forth around the living room, bent his head a little down for his
extreme thinking of many things unsolved. It seemed he wanted
to clear those problems out of his head but not yet, so they had
continued rolling and filling his mind with the tense situation.
Sometimes a General looked at the maps, explained the
advantage and disadvantage for his staffs on each area in the
map. Then he ordered them moving the troops to somewhere
after he had listened to the report of his staff officers.
Few times he looked at Nguyen with his indifference cold
face, but Nguyen felt pressure on him, plus a little afraid that
effected by a Generals eyes.
Nguyen ran out of the living room to look for his grandpa in
the backyard, stood beside him, holding his right hand.
"Grandpa, who are those people?" Nguyen asked.
His grandpa had bent down after he took a look around him
at a short distance. His right hand was against Nguyen's right
shoulder and his mouth closed to Nguyen's left ear.
"Viet-Minh soldiers... You must keep quiet...! Don’t open
your mouth to say anything about your family." He said in his
low voice.
“Do they will ask me about my parent, and uncle?”
“Yes... They might do it.”
“Why...?”
Grandpa turned Nguyen to face him. He looked into
Nguyen's eyes and said:
“Because I will do not tell them anything. They knew that
only kid as you would give them the true answer.”
