"Why they did not wait for me?" In a little raise voice, he
asked.
"Nguyen, they do want to take you with them, but it was no
time for them...!" Then he rubbed Nguyen's head with his
comfort of love. He added: "Grandson, you try to live here with
me. Your parent will be back to take you with them soon."
Nguyen looked at his grandpa.
"Yes, grandpa. How long they will be back to take me with
them?"
"Depend on how long Viet-Minh soldiers are staying here!"
"How long they will be here?" In a temper, he asked.
Nguyen's grandpa gave him a light clap on the shoulder.
"I do not know how long they will be here...! But do you
understand about the war?"
"No...!" Nguyen replied. In suddenly Nguyen looked at his
grandpa he asked: "Where is uncle Cao?"
"I did not know where he was now. He disappeared after he
had talked with a Viet-Minh General in the living room."
Nguyen looked at his grandpa.
"A gentleman had two stars on his hat?"
"Yes. Nguyen, why did you know him?" In the surprise, he
asked his grandson.
"I had seen him in the living room before I looked for you."
"Oh...! Nguyen. Do not play around closing the living room
and watching them again anymore!"
