furniture and textbooks. Thus learners are relied upon to move from class to class to

search for or borrow desks, chairs or textbooks for every lesson and teaching time is
frequently wasted on this.

The school has no modern technological tools to assist in the teaching and learning

process, however the science department has some necessary resources to conduct
experiments. In this way the science learners often present a clear understanding of

what they are taught. On the other hand, there are no relevant assisting tools for the
learners doing other subjects. The majority of the learners doing these subjects get

easily bored or skip classes because of this.

Teachers choose to ignore this and further persist on traditional methods of teaching

that do not accommodate all types of learning styles leading to lessons being
uninteresting. The teachers’ unpreparedness and poor time management is one of the

reasons why the learners misbehave and neglect their school work. This has led to
frequent parents’ meetings being called. We have realised that most of these meetings

are unsuccessful because there are no improvements after the meetings from both

sides. This depicts the poor communication relations between the teachers, parents
and learners.
