A TRIBUTE
TO MY DAD
ords cannot express the amount of shock I had when I realized that you
passed. I was in denial because it was hard to believe that you were really
Wgone forever. My dad went to Lord last month due to a cardiac arrest. The last
me I got to speak to him was when I was going back to school a er spending the
weekend at home. He talked to me said to make sure I stay focused while at school and
stressed the importance of an educa on. I talked to him about how I need some money
because I ran out of meal swipes for the week. Before my departure he told me to call
every once in awhile to see how everything is going.
My dad was a very funny person. At first glance you probably wouldn't be able to
tell because he had such strong facial features. Most of the me he looked very serious
and stern. A lot of my friends thought that he was mean when they first saw him un l they
spoke and saw how cool he really was. He was the type of guy that everyone loved and
had a good me with.
His posi ve a tude is what kept the family together. Whenever something went wrong
and everyone was going crazy he kept everyone calm and always had the solu on to any
problem. He was the glue of the family.
I miss hearing his laugh and seeing his smile. I miss his honesty, his work ethic and
his simplicity. I miss everything about him. But I know he's s ll around. I see a lot of his
characteris cs in me. I aspire to be a loving husband and father like he was. I can't to be
great father and be the glue of my own family. I also can't wait to be a great father and call
my kids downstairs to pass me the remote.
My dad always stressed how important an educa on was. He dedicated his me to
making sure that I always studied hard and worked to the best of my ability. He wanted me
to be successful so he was always making sure I was never slacking. All those I thought he
was on my case about something I thought he was just being mean. In reality he just
wanted to see the best in me and I'm happy that he always was. I am going to make sure I
con nue pursuing my educa on and make sure I become something successful because I
know that's what he would want and expected. When I spoke to you last I did not know
that this would be our last me hearing you. Even though you are not here with us
physically you are here with us spiritually and you will con nue to be with us every step of
the way. I love you Dad.
