APPROACHES TO DEVELOP ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN CONCEPT –

FORMAL

This approach will look into the formal language of
architecture in developing a concept. We look to

architecture from the classical in developing the
formal rules of our design. A formal approach to
design looks at drawing on the formal language of

architecture to develop a concept. From the
classical period formal rules in architecture being

used in developing the concept.

Some of the common languages in architecture
are dominance, hierarchy, axis, rhythm and
repetition. Many classical design may not be

classical in its style but it has the formal rules of
proportions. It also has the golden section,

proportions and scale. Then the language being
used as the main concept of the building design
