APPROACHES TO DEVELOP ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN CONCEPT -

          CONTEXTUAL

A concept that based on contextual approach will
be based solely on the condition of the site and its

surrounding. This concept also based on the
historical features of the area and the type of
people that occupy the area. As we all know

architecture design is for people. This type of
concept will be based heavily from the site analysis.

The approach will be based heavily from the data
collected about the site both physical and non-

physical. Every design project must have element of
a contextual approach. In every design it should
consider its context, site and surroundings. The

focus of some design sometimes is more than
others in considering the contextual factors. Some

times in other design conceptual development will
consider contextual approach is the most important
factor. The contextual design approach does not Figure 27 : Sample of design based on

always mean it will sit harmoniously in its contextual approach
environment. Sometimes the architect chooses the

fit the building to it site. There is a case the design
is contrast to the site. 34
