Don’t forget to include the reins when
you are buying a bridle. Some brands
don’t include the reins in the bridle, and
I don’t think you can ride without reins.

                                                 Eight Bridles

How do I know my bridle fits my horse?

The only way to know that a bridle fits comfortably on your horse is by try-
ing it on your horse’s head. Meredith Manor (2013) recommends to take into
account these four main points to be sure that a bridle fits your horse.

            1. If you chose a snaffle bridle, when fitting the noseband, make sure it sits
at least one finger width underneath of the cheek bone. If you chose a
figure eight bridle, then you should make sure that the little rings sit at
the bottom of your horse’s cheekbone.

            2. When adjusting the noseband, you should fit one finger width under-
neath your horse’s jaw, so that it’s not too tight or too loose.

            3. If your bridle has a flash, then you want to make sure you can fit at least
one finger width your horse’s mouth.

            4. When closing the throat latch, make sure you can fit four fingers under-
                neath of your horse’s cheek.

            Bit
Finding the perfect bit for your horse can be a big challenge. When you enter
the tack shop, looking at that bit wall full of different types of bits can be a little
overwhelming because you don’t know which one of them is going to best fit
