BTJ Grad Col. Yaniv Avitan

BTJ grad IDF Col. Yaniv Avitan was named the recipient of the
prestigious 2018 Israel Defense Prize of the Israeli Ministry of
Defense. Col. Avitan heads the crack IDF team which developed a
technological means to detect Hamas terrorist attack tunnels, making
the IDF the world’s first army to reach this phenomenal capability.
The 1994 grad emphasized that his unit’s breakthrough is not only
technological in nature. “Our soldiers’ most crucial asset is not just
their knowledge, but their peerless values,” he said. Col. Avitan
noted that these core values were the hallmark of his studies at Boys
Town Jerusalem. “At every point in my career, I always remember
the foundation that I got at BTJ. This synergy of academics and
ethical values gives me the strength to surge ahead each day.”

First Place Champions

In a sweeping victory, the Boys Town Jerusalem High School soccer
team clinched First Place in the 2019 National Yeshiva High School
league. The Boys Town Jerusalem team scored its decisive win in a
three-game final held in Tel Aviv against over 30 teams from across the
nation competing for the title.
