SC is the most basic crochet
stitch.
The majority of the pattern requires
making single crochet stitches in
spiral rounds. Each stitch is made
fairly tightly, so that the stuffing does
not show through.
1. Push the crochet hook from front
to back through the 1st stitch of the
magic ring
