Recycling Glass:
Bottles, jars, glass cups, vases and other glass waste are collected separately in collection boxes or in
places where waste occurs, and these wastes are separated according to their color and given to
recycling facilities. Here it is separated from waste and additives. Glass substances are broken and
mixed into the raw material mixture and poured into melting furnaces. At least one out of every three
glass packaging we use is made of recycled glass. Waste glass bottles and jars are used in glass
packaging production. Other glass types are not included in this process because the raw material they
contain is different. The energy saved as a result of recycling a glass bottle is equivalent to the energy
used by a 100 watt bulb in 1 hour, a computer in 25 minutes, a television in 20 minutes, a washing
machine in 10 minutes.
Benefits of Glass Recycling
* Decrease in energy consumption 25%
* Reduction in Air Pollution 20%
* Mining waste reduction 80%
* Reduction in Water Consumption 50%
* Protected natural resources: sand, soda, lime
