1.12.6.2 TAWS Tactical Mode PULL UP Alert
Recovery. ACAWS
When operating in a tactical environment, a climbing recovery may not
be practical or desirable. When TAWS is operating in the TACTICAL GROUND
mode and the obstacle or terrain is clearly visible and can be safely
avoided by altering the ground track of the aircraft, a turn may be used
as an alternate recovery procedure. TAKEOFF
WARNING FIRE/SMK
NORM
In TACTICAL mode, the TAWS Warning alert envelope PRES/OXY
is based on a radius of turn at 45 degrees angle of bank.
A bank angle less than 45 degrees may be used at pilot
discretion while visually ensuring obstacle or terrain ENG/PROP
avoidance.
Should a TAWS OBST PULL UP or TERRAIN PULL UP alert occur in a FUEL
tactical environment, proceed as follows:
Execute the WINDSHEAR/GCAS/TAWS PULL UP Alert Recovery AAR
Procedure, or execute an immediate turn, to establish a ground track
that ensures obstacle or terrain avoidance.
