                                                                                                             ACAWS

                                       In case of a wing/empennage ice protection
                                       zone overheat ACAWS, do not turn off the wing/                       GROUND
                                       empennage ice protection system until clear
                                       of icing conditions for a least 6 minutes (ICE
                                       DETECTED (A)  ACAWS not displayed).  The                             TAKEOFF
                                       respective zone must be isolated using the
                                       bleed air control system. Turning off the system
                                       prematurely may leave ice accumulated on the                         FIRE/SMK
  NORM                                 leading edges of the zones not isolated and may
                                       cause a X-WIND LIMITED (A) ACAWS. Since
                                       the applicable ice protection zone control valve                     PRES/OXY
                                    NOT FOR FLIGHT
                                       has already been commanded closed by the
                                       BA/ECS system, the valve cannot be closed by
                                       turning off the system.                                             ENG/PROP

                             Inadequate heat may be due to an ice protection valve/ducting                     AAR
                             problem resulting in loss of bleed air supplying that zone (manual or
                             automatic bleed air isolation) or low bleed air supply (for example,
  SPEC                       low HP). Icing conditions must be avoided as long as the HEAT                     ELEC
                             FAIL (C) ACAWS is active, regardless of the cause.

                                                                                                            FLT CTRL
                                Closure of the left or right bleed air isolation or divider
                                valve (manually or automatically) will inhibit the horizontal
                                and vertical tail HEAT FAIL (C) ACAWS messages even                           GEAR
                                if a bleed air source is supplying the empennage ice
                                protection zone. If one or more of these valves must
                                remain closed, exit icing conditions as soon as practical.                  DOR/RMP
