CAUTION
ACAWS
In case of a wing/empennage ice protection
zone overheat ACAWS, do not turn off the wing/ GROUND
empennage ice protection system until clear
of icing conditions for a least 6 minutes (ICE
DETECTED (A) ACAWS not displayed). The TAKEOFF
respective zone must be isolated using the
bleed air control system. Turning off the system
prematurely may leave ice accumulated on the FIRE/SMK
NORM leading edges of the zones not isolated and may
cause a X-WIND LIMITED (A) ACAWS. Since
the applicable ice protection zone control valve PRES/OXY
NOT FOR FLIGHT
has already been commanded closed by the
BA/ECS system, the valve cannot be closed by
turning off the system. ENG/PROP

C. Condition............................................................................. Evaluate
Inadequate heat may be due to an ice protection valve/ducting AAR
problem resulting in loss of bleed air supplying that zone (manual or
automatic bleed air isolation) or low bleed air supply (for example,
SPEC low HP). Icing conditions must be avoided as long as the HEAT ELEC
FAIL (C) ACAWS is active, regardless of the cause.

FLT CTRL
Closure of the left or right bleed air isolation or divider
valve (manually or automatically) will inhibit the horizontal
and vertical tail HEAT FAIL (C) ACAWS messages even GEAR
if a bleed air source is supplying the empennage ice
protection zone. If one or more of these valves must
remain closed, exit icing conditions as soon as practical. DOR/RMP
